The Yamaha FS5II is the premium concert-body model in the Red Label acoustic line, built in Japan with a major step up in craftsmanship, finish quality, and tonal refinement. It delivers the vintage-inspired character of Yamaha’s 1960s acoustics in a smaller, more controlled body shape.
Built in a Concert body style, the FS5II produces a focused and articulate voice with tight low end, strong note separation, and excellent dynamic control. Compared to the larger FG5II, the FS5II is more precise and controlled, making it especially strong for fingerstyle playing, recording, and players who prefer balance over raw projection.
The solid spruce top is treated with Yamaha’s A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement), a proprietary process that gives the guitar a more mature, open tonal character. This helps create improved warmth, response, sustain, and harmonic complexity right out of the case.
With all-solid wood construction, solid mahogany back and sides, and a 5-ply mahogany/rosewood neck, the FS5II offers professional-level stability, resonance, and long-term tonal development. The new gloss finish adds a more refined visual presence while preserving the Red Label character.
