The Yamaha FG5II represents the next step in the modern Red Label series, combining vintage-inspired acoustic character with Yamaha’s refined Japanese craftsmanship. Drawing inspiration from the original FG guitars introduced in the 1960s, the FG5II focuses on balance, projection, and a natural acoustic voice that feels open and responsive from the first chord.
Its Original Jumbo body shape delivers the strong projection and headroom players expect from a full-size acoustic while maintaining clarity and note separation across the frequency range. The all-solid wood construction gives the FG5II greater tonal complexity, resonance, and responsiveness, allowing the guitar to continue opening up over time.
The solid Sitka spruce top features Yamaha’s A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) treatment, designed to create a warmer and more mature tonal response right out of the box. Combined with solid mahogany back and sides, the FG5II produces a dry, focused midrange character with strong fundamental note definition and controlled low end that works exceptionally well for singer-songwriters, flatpickers, and recording applications.
Yamaha’s scalloped bracing design improves sustain and responsiveness while preserving balance across the frequency spectrum. The traditional-style mahogany neck offers a comfortable and natural feel, while the ebony fingerboard and bridge add articulation, stability, and durability.
