The Yamaha FGX5II is the flagship Original Jumbo acoustic-electric in the Red Label series, built in Japan with a significant step up in craftsmanship, materials, and tonal refinement. It combines the power and depth of Yamaha’s classic dreadnought-style design with professional-grade electronics for stage and studio use.
Built in the Original Jumbo body shape, Yamaha’s take on a dreadnought-style acoustic, the FGX5II produces a full-range voice with strong low-end presence, clear mids, and articulate highs. It is ideal for strumming and rhythm playing, while maintaining enough balance for fingerstyle applications.
The solid spruce top is treated with Yamaha’s A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement), a proprietary process that gives the guitar a more mature, open tonal character. This results in improved warmth, sustain, responsiveness, and harmonic complexity.
With all-solid wood construction, solid mahogany back and sides, and a 5-ply mahogany/rosewood neck, the FGX5II delivers professional-level resonance, stability, and long-term tonal development.
