The Yamaha RSS02T brings a distinctly different voice to the Revstar Standard lineup with a pair of VP5 P90 pickups designed for players who want more openness, immediacy, and dynamic attack from their guitar. Compared to the humbucker-equipped Revstar models, the RSS02T delivers a rawer and more articulate response with greater upper-mid presence and touch sensitivity, making it exceptionally well suited for blues, indie, alternative, classic rock, and expressive edge-of-breakup tones.

The VP5 P90 pickup set produces rich midrange punch, tight low-end response, and a more open top-end character that reacts naturally to picking dynamics and volume adjustments. Yamaha’s Dry Switch further expands the tonal range by tightening low frequencies and improving articulation without sacrificing body or fullness. The result is a more controlled alternate voice that preserves the natural character and responsiveness that make P90-equipped guitars so appealing.

The chambered mahogany body paired with a maple top gives the RSS02T additional resonance, sustain, and upper-end clarity while maintaining a balanced and highly responsive feel.
