At the center of the PACS+12M is the Reflectone™ pickup system, developed in collaboration with Rupert Neve Designs. Unlike traditional HSS systems that can sometimes feel uneven across positions, Reflectone™ pickups are engineered for exceptional balance, articulation, and dynamic consistency throughout the switching range. The bridge humbucker delivers punch and authority for modern gain tones, while the single-coils retain impressive clarity and note separation for clean and edge-of-breakup playing. Yamaha’s Focus Switch further expands the tonal palette, allowing players to tighten or thicken the response depending on the musical context.

The chambered alder body uses Yamaha’s Acoustic Design process to improve resonance and responsiveness while keeping the instrument lightweight and balanced. Combined with the maple neck and maple fingerboard, the PACS+12M feels fast, immediate, and highly articulate under the hands.
